Abstract WIP

I decided to start another abstract but this time am documenting various phases as I progress.

This is a new technique for me and is considered part of the experimentation technique of abstract painting. Some would call it outsider art however the definition of outsider art would be naive art which in its beginnings would stem from patients in mental institutions. And seeing as I am not living in an insane assylum no matter how insane my life feels! LOL At any rate, I am enjoying this experimentation!

I started with a somewhat textured fresco, and added light layers of cadmium yellow medium, raw sienna, burnt umber, titanium white, and then washed in french ultramarine and indian red mixed with a russet metalic pigment. Then finishing this layer off with a couple swipes of an earthy black and pure french ultramarine.

I will post more as I have them!

Ma Bella Larger than Life!

Just released! Ma Bella! That Mediterranean bombshell larger than life size! She is painted on a Museum Grade Gallery Wrapped canvas (which means there are no staples on the side!) using Acrylics on a plaster fresco prepped surface! She measures 48 x 24 x 1.5 inches and is currently listed on Ebay! The sides are painted black which makes for a striking display! It will hang flush on your wall because the wiring is embedded inside the frame which means you wont have to frame her! The photos do absolutely NO JUSTICE to this piece! Room Views are for display purposes only and may not be to proportions, check the measurements. Very Empowering piece!

I am composing a calendar for 2009 and need entries. I will be making collages(that do not overlap) within my editing program and so I can have several on each page. Please specify which month you are submitting for in the filename of the image. I will further be adding text to each page to serve as either a discriptory, history of the aceo/atc movement, or poetry particular for that month.

Each artist will receive a pdf proof of the page their work was included on.

I also will need your ebay or etsy id. Due to space limitations, URLs will not be accepted for this project. Please confirm that no URLs are included in your submission including that any watermark is removed and your submission is properly cropped.

Please send in a text file your name as you wish to see it in print, your ebay or etsy id specifying which venue it is, as well as your image submissions to
cal2009@sharilynnstudios.com.

Your submission will be your acceptance with regards to printing your work.

After the deadline I will make my choices of at least 1 image per artist to give the greatest exposure to emerging artists in the marketplace.

Each contributing artist will receive an option to order their own copy at my cost and through me. The vendor I am using does not have this capability as of yet. Proceeds, small as they are, will be going towards the marketing of this calendar.

A link will be made available for the completed calendar once it is completed, along with a graphic to help support the project.

This piece I started back in June in response to the war in Iraq. The amount of casualties involved in the war is ridiculous and I feel it is like stars falling from the sky into a river of dispair. Purity in dispair. sigh..

well i've been a bit awol the last few days... working on a bigger piece...

this is a place in Wales called Traeth Llyfn. It's kinda haunted feeling there but i needed to do a bigger piece to stretch me wings as it were... also showing a bit of the dining room there... light was better out here today, rather overcast..

Here I've placed the Mat over it to check size of the overall image.

It's coming along nicely!

amazing how some people just don't know how to remove you from their mailing list.... take for example Stephanie Chandler who owns sever scam sites and is trying to network herself from places like LinkedIn and Fastpitchnetworker... what had happened is that while on elance, this woman invited me to give a quote to do her website, and I did.. a quote fair for the work requested. she came back and slammed me saying i charged 4 times the amount required however she obviously does not understand the web designer market in chicago... nor the rates involved for first class service or work for that matter. so she led me along for a good month before finally chewing me out for daring to suggest an honest wage for her rediculous project which involved scamming a ton of people into believing the "get rich quick" crap you normally see on late night info-mercials...

several times i politely asked her to remove me from her SCAM list and to quit emailing me... did she? NO.... just today i got another "invitation" for one of those networking sites that I DONT BELONG TO!

is there any way to get this woman to LEAVE ME THE F*** ALONE?!? I've already reported her to Yahoo (where her domain resides) and both LinkedIn and now Fastpitchnetworking.com...

is there any way to GET RID OF HER?!?

if you ever get any email from this bit** just report her... next on the list Internet Fraud.... *if* i get another spam email from her!

I completed this piece for a kickoff for a book that was created by my ACEO group on ebay. The winner will win a copy of the book.

It also fits in with a painting a day. I used watercolor on 140lb paper. Sushi is quite a different thing to paint when you've never physically eaten it.. altho some of it looked yummy... so long as its cooked... :)

I'm on a roll here with little sunflower peoples... they amazingly simple to do with a limited palatte. I used med. cad. yellow, yellow ochre, and raw umber in places for the petals and for the stems a mixture of lemon yellow, blue cobalt, and indigo (just a dot of color or it will muddy up) Then plenty of water to thin out the pigment onto the paper!

This was a new style for me using paynes gray and indithyrine(sp?) blue in varying densities... the reds in the skyline are indian red and alizarin. After i shaded the buildings I had realized I did not leave any white paper showing for the windows so I used chinese white and it did make it look more realistic. I plan on doing more of these!
